Fibre Guild Survey

We wanted to discover what fibre arts interest you, and what activities you are looking for in your Fibre Guild, so we recently ran a survey.

We received a large number of responses (41) which was fantastic! It’s great to see so much interest in the Fibre Guild and its activities. With so many responses, we can definitely use this information to guide our next steps.

Our interests and skills

The first section focused on areas of interest. We asked what fibre arts people currently do (left) as well as what they considered their specialties (right). We have an impressive array of skills represented by our guild members!

We also asked people what they’d like to learn most at the Beginner and Intermediate levels. This will help us choose topics for teaching at upcoming Arts and Sciences events.

Guild Activities

Next we asked what kind of activities we’d like to participate in, as a Guild. The majority of people who answered the survey would participate in all these activities (at least 24 people, which is the orange coloured bar)!

An annual Lochac wide competition for any person to compete in – like a Laurels’ prize tourney but for fibre – maybe judged at Festival

Teaching

We wanted to understand whether people were interested in supporting these activities by volunteering. Turns out: yes! 28 people are interested in helping others develop their fibre arts. 33 people are willing to make award cords. There are even 14 people willing to judge fibre arts. That’s amazing!

Guild rankings

Our final section related to guild rankings: earning, and facilitating ranking of others. Again, we received a strong level of interest in people earning ranks, and a whopping 29 people said they’d be willing to assess someone’s work to allow them to be ranked. It looks reviewing the rankings system would be a good idea, since we have a significant number of people undecided about whether to participate.

Overall, this survey has provided an amazing insight for our guild. Thank you to all who participated, your responses are greatly appreciated!
